First Decompensation 第一次失代偿 Finally she enrolled in a nursing school—against her parents' wishes. The experience was a difficult one. She did reasonably well in the course work and was able to graduate. She was under considerable stress during this period. She continued to have very few friends and dated only on rare occasions. She became increasingly temperamental, irritable and difficult to get along with at home. She would at times become physically abusive, striking out at members of the family and shouting obscenities at them. After her graduation from the school, she did not take the board of nursing examination and did not obtain her registration. She became extremely anxious and abusive, became violent and began to throw things at members of the family in excited outbursts; she was combative and delusional. On discharge she seemed to have recompensated quite effectively and seemed to have returned to a relatively good level of functioning. She got up enough courage to attempt the board examination and, despite her long absence from nursing, was able to pass it and received her registration in nursing. She worked for nearly a year in a nursing home and was able to function quite adequately.
